A Mossad intelligence officer is responsible for the death of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsin Fakhrizadeh.

We cannot verify whether the a Mossad intelligence officer named Fahimi Hinawi was responsible for the death of the nuclear scientist.

We cannot verify whether the a Mossad intelligence officer named Fahimi Hinawi was responsible for the death of the nuclear scientist. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an Iranian nuclear scientist, was shot dead in a convoy outside Tehran on Nov. 27.

A revolutionary guards commander stated that a satellite-controlled machine-gun with artificial intelligence was used to kill the scientist. The Defence Ministry had earlier indicated a gunfight between the Fakhrizadeh’s bodyguards and several armed men in an open space. Israel's intelligence agency has been widely suspected by Iranian authorities and world media alike to be behind this act. But they have not released any incriminating evidence proving their suspicion.

A top Iranian security official accused Israel of killing the Iranian scientist. The Israeli government refused to provide statements despite many requests made by the media houses on the attack. One American official — along with two other intelligence officials — said that Israel was behind the scientist's attack, reported the New York Times.

Multiple social media posts and blog sites on Dec. 4, 2020, have shared a video of an incident claiming to be the killing of a Mossad officer named Fahimi Hinawi. These reports also claimed that this was the person responsible for killing Fakhrizadeh and that Hinawi's killing was in retaliation to the scientist's death. However, there is no confirmation on whether or not the Mossad officer was killed. Also, the authenticity of the video circulating online cannot be verified.

Without any credible evidence on who killed the scientist, we cannot verify this claim at the time of writing.
