Rubel Jonu Sheikh, an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant and President of BJP's North Mumbai Minority cell, was arrested for living illegally in India.Mumbai Police arrested Rubel, a 24-year old-man, for obtaining Indian citizenship based on the forged documents. He was a resident of Bangladesh and entered Mumbai in 2011 without any valid documents. Currently, he is the president of BJP's North Mumbai Minority Cell and allegedly lived in Malad illegally for around ten years. Police have evidence that proves his Bangladeshi nationality.

Through the forged documents, the accused had prepared fake identity cards such as PAN and Aadhaar. The Mumbai Police booked sections under the Indian Penal Code, the Foreigners Act, and the Passport Act against him. The investigation is ongoing.
