A 20-year-old woman was set on fire by a group of men when she objected to their sexual harassment in Vaishali, Bihar.

The accused, identified as Satish Kumar, Vijay Kumar, and Chandan Kumar, allegedly set the woman ablaze in Rasalpur-Habib village under Chandpur police outpost on October 30. Vijay and Satish are father and son while Chandan is the latter’s cousin.

The woman, who suffered 75% burns, was rushed to a private hospital from where she was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed on Nov 16. She had named Satish, Vinay, and Chandan in her dying statement. The video of her testimony has gone viral.

According to the victim's family, Satish had been harassing her to marry him, and that she had refused to entertain his proposal as she was engaged to another man.

Chandan has been arrested. Vaishali District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Mangla said the other accused persons were on the run and three police teams have been formed to arrest them.
