Yediyurappa said that following the death of first COVID -19 positive in Kalaburgi, the government is taking all the precautionary measures to prevent novel coronavirus and that for a week, malls, cinemas, pubs, nightclubs and exhibitions would be closed.

In a tweet, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that 76-year-old male from Karnataka was dead on 10 March 2020 because of pre-existing diseases and tested positive for COVID-19. The ministry has also cited the press release which proves that precautionary measures such as contact tracing and screening were initiated by the government of Karnataka.
