U.S. Supreme Court redefines 'sex' to mean ‘gender identity’ in federal law in Orwellian Ruling

According to a Supreme Court ruling, federal law, which prohibits discrimination based on sex, should include sexual orientation and gender identity.

According to a Supreme Court ruling, federal law, which prohibits discrimination based on sex, should include sexual orientation and gender identity.A BBC article reported that prior to the ruling on Monday, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 forbade employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of sex but did not explicitly mention sexual orientation. Moreover, a CNBC article mentions that while workers in about half the country were protected by local laws that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, there was no federal law that explicitly barred LGBT workers from being fired on that basis. Ultimately, in a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that "it is impossible to discriminate against a person for being homosexual or transgender without discriminating against that individual based on sex."
