In a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus, the Udupi district administration has decided to seal its borders for two weeks from July 15, 2020. Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha told reporters that those who want to leave or enter the district would have to do so before 8 pm on July 15, after which the district borders would be sealed for two weeks.

The commissioner further said that total lockdown on Sundays would continue, and vehicles carrying essential goods can move without any restrictions. People coming on special 'Vande Bharat' flights can travel by availing special passes from the local authorities. Dakshin Kannada district has decided to impose a total lockdown till 5 am, July 23.
