A statement by IV Town police officials confirms that Dr Sudhakar Rao was sent to the government hospital for mental care.Dr Sudhakar Rao, an anaesthetist at Narsipatnam Government Hospital, Andhra Pradesh was suspended for making an allegation over the shortage of masks, personal protective equipment(PPEs) in the hospitals. The doctor was arrested on 16 May 2020, for creating public trouble and attacking a police constable near the Port Hospital, he also staged an immediate protest on the national highway, stating no particular purpose.

The IV Town police officials said that while he was drunk, he toured off his shirt, attacked on the constable and damaged his phone. The officials added that Dr Sudhakar was shifted to the government hospital for mental care as he is reportedly suffering from acute and transient psychosis.
