The California Department of Public Health banned indoor singing in places of worship to prevent the spreading of the COVID-19 virus.

The California Department of Public Health banned indoor singing in places of worship to prevent the spreading of the COVID-19 virus. The Public Health Department decides to avoid the chances of COVID-19 transmission via the exhaled air. Thus, as per the industry guidance for places of worship states that singing and chanting activities in the churches have been discontinued until further notice. According to the guidance, the indoor attendance in churches is limited to 25 percent of building capacity or 100 attendees.

Local Health Officers are to consider appropriate limitations on both outdoor and indoor attendance capacities. Singing is proven to be a way of spreading the virus. Hence, the State of California no longer allows singing in churches.
