The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ordered Mumbai based schools to remain closed till Dec. 31 as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19.
Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra's School Education Minister, confirmed the government's decision to extend schools' closure in Mumbai.
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai's order stated that one could not deny the apprehension of a second wave of the infection as is being seen in many other countries and states. Noting that the ensuing four to six weeks are crucial in preventing a second wave and the condition in general, the order issued by Education Officer Mahesh Palkar said it is necessary to remain careful. Therefore, all schools, be it public or private of all mediums, will stay closed till Dec. 31.
