There is insufficient evidence to prove that CM Jagan has been encouraging conversion activities in his state of Andhra Pradesh.BJP state unit accused that freebies doled out by CM Jagan would give rise to conversion activities in Andhra Pradesh as the circular issued by the government decided to enumerate pastors for giving away financial benefits in 2019. Incidentally, the move is part of the YSR Congress’ pre-poll promises to provide an honorarium of Rs 5,000 to pastors if voted to power. The manifesto had also promised Rs 10,000 to Rs 35,000 to maintain temples and Rs 15,000 as an honorarium to imams and muezzins. There are also accusations of evangelical activities being carried out in village/ward secretariat buildings inaugurated by the YSRCP government.

Further, his party MP Raghu Ramkrishna Raju made an admission during a TV debate that the Christian missionaries in Andhra Pradesh are using money to carry out widespread religious conversions in the state. He said that the religious conversions taking place in Andhra Pradesh were not a recent phenomenon after Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed the office of Chief Minister, but conversions used to happen extensively across the state even before he became the chief minister.

However, there is no credible evidence to suggest that Andhra Pradesh Cm Jagan has been promoting or supporting religious conversions in his state.
