Former Malaysian PM Najib Razak has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of 7 charges of corruption.
Razak was convicted for diverting an estimated 42 million from SRC International, a unit of State Fund, into his personal bank accounts. He has been ordered to pay a fine of 210 million ringgit ($49m) and will face 12 years in jail for abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering.
Despite the sentence, however, Razak is currently free as a judge granted a stay order on the execution of the sentence.
