Former Malaysian PM Najib Razak has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of 7 charges of corruption.On 28 July, former Malaysian PM Najib Razak was found guilty of corruption in seven cases linked to the alleged theft of billions of dollars from the Malaysian State Fund.

Razak was convicted for diverting an estimated 42 million from SRC International, a unit of State Fund, into his personal bank accounts. He has been ordered to pay a fine of 210 million ringgit ($49m) and will face 12 years in jail for abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering.

Despite the sentence, however, Razak is currently free as a judge granted a stay order on the execution of the sentence.
