BJP workers posed as ‘locals’ protesting against farmers camping at the Singhu border.

Members of right-wing group Hindu Sena and other locals sloganeered to remove protesting farmers from Singhu border near Delhi.

Members of right-wing group Hindu Sena and other locals sloganeered to remove protesting farmers from Singhu border near Delhi.Farmers have been protesting against three bills passed in the parliament for months and on Republic Day protests in Delhi turned violent as thousands made their way into the national capital with tractors. Later, several media outlets reported that the 'locals' of the Singhu border raised slogans against the farmers, demanding the area to be vacated.

While it is true that many people gathered at the Singhu border who demanded the protestors be removed from the area, the crowds weren't organized by mere 'locals' but members of the Hindu Sena, a right wing outfit. On Jan. 28, Aaj Tak tweeted, claiming that the Hindu Sena Group and local people are agitating against the farmers' protest at the Singhu border.

Hindu Sena organization's founder and president Vishnu Gupta had also tweeted that local Hindu Sena activists and local area residents went to the Singhu border and raised slogans against alleged "Khalistan supporters" and asked the farmers to clear the road.

Therefore, the media incorrectly reported that only locals were demonstrating when in fact, the crowds were rallied by Hindu Sena activists and other locals protesting against farmers.
