Ministry of Home Affairs' press release stated that Rajiv Gauba chaired NCMC meeting to review the preparedness and requirements for cyclone Amphan.On 19 May, Gauba held the meeting along with Chief Secretary of Odisha and Additional Chief Secretary of West Bengal concerning Super Cyclone. He asked the state government to ensure complete evacuation of people from low lying areas in cyclone path and to provide them adequate quantities of essential supplies such as food, drinking water and medicines. Further, they have allotted 36 National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) teams to deploy people in both states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had also warned that the storm is expected to impact the West Bengal coast by the afternoon/evening of May 20, 2020.
