Representatives from the agency stopped attending the briefings and leaving them with no medical expert present. The experts from the ICMR used to attend the Health Ministry's press briefings prior to April 23. The reason for their absence has not been acknowledged officially.

The government has also decided to hold the health ministry's press briefings about COVID-19 updates once a week.
