A male elephant died on June 8, 2020, in Kerala's Malappuram. He did not respond to treatment by the forest department veterinarians.

A male elephant died on June 8, 2020, in Kerala's Malappuram. He did not respond to treatment by the forest department veterinarians.Locals in the region found the injured male elephant and informed the forest officials. On inspection, the officials said that the elephant was wounded, and had seriously injured himself in a suspected fight with other Tuskers. A specialized team provided treatment under the supervision of the Chief Veterinary Surgeon Arun Sakaria and veterinarian Mithun. The elephant had died on June 8. Further, the elephant's carcass was burnt by forest officials after a team of doctors from the Veterinary University conducting post mortem.
