Rahul Gandhi did not refer to actor Singh Rajput as a cricketer in his condolence message on Twitter.On June 14, 2020 Rahul Gandhi tweeted a condolence message on the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He expressed sadness at the tragedy saying the young and talented actor left for his heavenly abode too soon.

The same day, a photoshopped screenshot of Rahul Gandhi's tweet started doing the rounds on social media in which the word 'actor' had been replaced by the word 'cricketer'. The tweet was also shared by Karuna Gopal who identifies herself as a member of the sub-committee of the BJP National Manifesto.

RTI activist Saket Gokhale later tweeted that the screenshot with the word cricketer was fake and posted a screenshot of Rahul Gandhi's original tweet in which he refers to Sushant Singh Rajput as an actor.
