In the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD), 1,300 CCTV cameras were installed to step up security in the temple environment.Tirumala has been on the watch-list of the Intelligence Bureau, which has designated the shrine as a high-risk temple which faces a generic threat. The TTD trust board approved the integrated CCTV project in 2018. The temple administration's vigilance and security wing executed the first phase of works with a budget of ₹ 5.87 crores by setting up 285 latest CCTV cameras. The second phase included the installation of 1050 CCTV cameras at the cost of ₹ 16 crores. Presently the vigilance department is all set to perform the third phase of operations by installing nearly 1300 CCTV cameras at ₹ 30 crores.

In June 2020, TTD had started using the eZy Distance Calculator to ensure social distancing. Around 20 CCTV cameras are linked with the application; the software would be loaded into the surveillance system, which would calculate and alert so that the officials could manage the crowd and ensure social distance maintenance among individuals amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The software detects the spots where there is overcrowding and alerts officials in case of any deviations. With 1,300 CCTV cameras installed at all strategic locations in Tirumala, the TTD can regulate devotees' flow.

The TTD trust board chairman YV Subba Reddy said it approved the annual budget for 2020-21 after a board meeting. He also noted that ₹ 20 crores were fixed to install 1,300 CC cameras in Tirumala in the third phase through the allocated tenders.
