
An explosion occurred at a plastic factory in Sujapur of West Bengal’s Malda district killing five people and leaving several others injured.
A resident near the factory said that the blast took place around 11 am where nearly 20 employees were working inside the factory, which recycled plastic, iron, and brass.
The explosion was very loud and people staying at least two kilometers away from the site of the incident could hear the noise. The walls of the factory collapsed and a few houses in its vicinity were also damaged.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced a compensation of Rs 2 Lakh for the family of those who died in the blast and Rs 50,000 for the injured in the blast.
