He expressed that he was shocked that a young thinker, an idealistic leader, has been arrested under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities(Protection) Act (UAPA). He added that he was among the leaders that India deserves.

Khalid was arrested by the Delhi Police's special cell late on September 13, 2020, after eleven hours of interrogation, for his alleged part in the conspiracy behind the February riots in Delhi. The Delhi riots were triggered between the supporters and opponents of the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).

A Delhi court has sent him to police custody for ten days in the case. Yadav never made insinuating comments against any community following the arrest of Khalid.
