Mamata Banerjee, who became West Bengal's Chief Minister in 2011, has been inaugurating Durga Puja pandals for the last ten years & not twenty years.
Once Mamata Banerjee became Chief Minister of West Bengal, she started inaugurating the Durga Puja pandals. On September 28, 2011, Banerjee inaugurated the 95 Palli Durga Puja at Jodhpur Park. She interacted with the locals and greeted them on occasion. Since 2011, Banerjee has traveled all across Kolkata, inaugurating Durga Puja pandals. In 2012, the Chief Minister had received invitations from over 100 Puja pandals in the city.
In October 2016, Banerjee inaugurated Puja mandaps of 74 Palli in Kidderpore, Muktadal, Bhowanipore 76 Palli, Md Ali Park Badamtala Ashar Sangha in Rashbehari Avenue. Similarly, in September 2017, the Chief Minister inaugurated the pandals in Ekdalia Evergreen, Naktala Udayan Sangha, Hindustan Park, Behala Natun Dal, Jodhpur Park 95 Pally, Ajay Sanhati, Ahiritola Durgotsav, Santoshpur Sarbajonin, Sreebhumi Sporting Club, and several other pandals. On October 14, 2020, Banerjee virtually inaugurated several Durga Pujas in five North Bengal districts due to the COVID-19. She also inaugurated two big-budget Durga Pujas by visiting the venue.
So, Banerjee has inaugurated many Durga Puja pandals for about ten years and not from the past twenty years; therefore, the claim is misleading.
