Donald Trump had referred to John McCain as a loser as Trump did not consider captured veterans as war heroes.In the 2015 Iowa Grand Old Party event, Donald Trump referred to John McCain's defeat in the 2008 presidential election by telling Republican consultant Frank Luntz that he didn't like him after that because he didn't like losers. When Luntz repeated that McCain was a war hero, Trump said he wasn't and that he was a war hero because he was captured. He added that he liked people that weren't captured.

Later the same day, he tweeted out an article headlined: Donald Trump: John McCain Is 'A Loser.'
