The Congress had 114 MLAs with the BJP's tally standing at 107. However, on March 15, 2020, the Speaker of the house accepted resignations of 6 ministers. This brought the total number of seats in the house down to 222, with the majority lying at 112 seats. The 6 ministers who resigned were part of the 22 Congress MLA's who resigned after former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia left the party and joined the BJP.
