The report by the Henry Jackson Society suggests that China must pay the UK for coronavirus damages and that the United Nations has to step in.The society's report about the COVID-19 pandemic has concluded that the Chinese government has failed in early handling of the disease and that it failed to adequately report relevant information to the World Health Organisation. It says that China has directly breached Articles six and Seven of the International Health Regulations. It has mentioned that the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) was signed in 1982 which has 168 Parties and 157 signatories including China. It adds that Part XV of UNCLOS contains a dispute settlement system, which provides for the establishment of an International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and arbitral tribunals. Therefore, it estimates that China has to pay about £351 billion in damages to the UK.
As of now, there are no official statements or reports by the UK government and the UN in response to the report.
