In January 2020, Saumitra Khan threatened to set police vehicles on fire.BJP MP Saumitra Khan quit the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in 2019. Later, he joined the Bharatiya

Janata Party (BJP). Khan criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's leadership, alleging that there was no democracy in the state.

Khan called leaders opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act and the nationwide National Register of Citizens "Banerjee's dogs". While addressing a program in support of CAA in Bankura district on Jan. 28, 2020, he threatened that if TMC workers attack BJP activists in any of his areas, his party members would beat them up. If police try to intervene and take TMC's side, he added, they would burn their vehicles.

There is a video clip of him with few people around him in the daytime. It is doing its rounds on social media platforms like Twitter with the caption that he threatens to "burn everything", but we cannot establish the authenticity due to the low quality.
