Ms. Sunita Yadav has confirmed on social media and a news interview that she resigned from her job as a police constable.A viral video showed police constable Sunita Yadav altercating with Prakash Kanani, son of Kumar Kanani, the Varachha Road MLA and Minister of State for Health, and his friends for violating the lockdown rules.

Surat Commissioner of Police R. B. Brahmbhatt ordered an inquiry into the incident on July 11, 2020. Following the investigation, Prakash Kanani and his friends were arrested the next day and released on bail later. Sunita Yadav, who worked at the Varachha Police Station, was transferred to the police headquarters and she resigned her job after not receiving any help in the matter from her superiors. She tweeted about resigning on July 13 and confirmed it to India Today on July 13 in an interview.
