Studies suggest that the death rate among Healthcare workers is similar to the general population.Healthcare workers are among the frontline warriors who fight against COVID-19, which means they are exposed to enormous health risks. Many HCWs have been infected with Covid-19, and the high transmission rate has placed a burden on the health infrastructure. Data points indicate that many health workers have lost their lives in substantial numbers.

A systematic review was done to examine the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths among HCWs across 195 countries during the pandemic's early phases. It revealed that the infections were seen more in nurses, deaths more in doctors. The study mentioned that the trends must be considered in the context of the paucity of data and the disease's natural history—the quality of the data available. The data suggested that for every 100 HCWs that got infected, 1 died, which was 0.5% of the total number of 270 426 COVID-19 deaths worldwide. Further noted that 2922 deaths from COVID-19 were reported in countries where no data on HCWs deaths from COVID-19 were available.

A similar study also noted that no central registry of deaths exists, and there is an urgent need for systematic collection, analysis, and publication of data relating to health workers.

However, both the studies concluded that COVID-19 infections and deaths among HCWs follow that of the general population around the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
