In 1962 out of 249 seats, the INC won 177seats.

In 1972 out of 219 seats, the INC won 165 seats.

In 1978 out of 279 seats, the INC won 175 seats and in 1983 out of 73 seats, the INC won 60 seats.

From the above figures, we can conclude that INC won from 1953 till 1983.
