Dr.Kafeel Khan's detention under the National Security Act has not ended as of yet. Dr. Kafeel Khan was arrested in Mumbai by the Special Taskforce Police of Uttar Pradesh on January 29, 2020, for his inflammatory remarks during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Aligarh. On February 10, 2020, the court /had been granted bail for three days and not released from the Mathura jail.

Later on February 13, Uttar Pradesh Government charged him under the National Security Act (NSA) and detained him for three months under section 3(2) act. Some journalists said the doctor had applied for his bail again on July 22, which has been denied. The next habeas corpus hearing has been scheduled for July 27, 2020.
