Around 150-200 people targeted police officers and threw bottles and rocks at the Portland Police's North Precinct Community Policing Center.

Around 150-200 people targeted police officers and threw bottles and rocks at the Portland Police's North Precinct Community Policing Center.About 200 people marched to a police precinct station in the largest city in Oregon on 22 August. Many individuals wore protective gear, including helmets, eye protection, gas masks, and body armor. Demonstrations against racism and police brutality have swept the United States since the death of George Floyd in May 2020, a 46-year-old Black man killed by a police officer. Officers placed unoccupied police vehicles parked on Northeast Emerson Street on the southwest side of the precinct and yellow police line tape across the road to keep the crowd from entering or coming close to the building. Portland Police Bureau said protesters pelted softball-sized rocks, glass bottles, golf balls, ball bearings, metal railroad spikes, and plastic eggs filled with paint at the police vans. There were also balloons filled with feces thrown at cars and vandalized the marked police cars despite warnings. Police declared the incident as a riot, and many arrests were made. There were minor injuries reported during the riot.
