A set of reports by the CIA confirms that Operation Mockingbird was a secret program by the United States to manipulate the news in the 1970s.The CIA’s (Central Intelligence Agency) involvement in the manipulation of news published in the United States and across the world is known as Operation Mockingbird. It manipulated mainstream media by bribing students, established journalist and reporters to write reports/events favouring CIA narrative to change the American minds. CIA admitted it later on and published a set of documents called 'Family Jewels' on their website.

History teaching resource website 'School History' has also described the CIA's involvement in the manipulation of media.
