Chinese customs officials said samples of imported frozen shrimp packages from Ecuador tested positive for novel coronavirus.China had begun testing imported fresh and frozen food after the coronavirus was found on a chopping board at a large food market in Beijing. The Chinese National Health Commission said it found six samples from the external packs imported from Ecuador with positive results for COVID-19 from cargoes at Dalian and Xiamen ports. However, the samples from the seafood and the interior of the packaging tested negative. As a result, the shrimp food packages were pulled off the shelves across China, and imports were suspended from three Ecuadorean shrimp producers.
