As per the climate data, this is the first time since 1913 that 130F (54.4C) has recorded near the Furnace Creek Visitor Center in Death Valley National Park, about 100 miles west-northwest of Las Vegas on August 16, 2020. Moreover, it observed that the average 2.29 inches of precipitation fall each year and the average evaporation rate of 150 inches a year in the valley, which could cause heatwaves.
