The one million reservists are being activated because the Pentagon expects battlefield casualties on a large scale.

An executive order by President Trump states that it permits Pentagon to bring 1000,000 military reservists to assist in coronavirus response.

An executive order by President Trump states that it permits Pentagon to bring 1000,000 military reservists to assist in coronavirus response.President Trump signed an executive order on 27 March 2020 that permits the Pentagon to bring back some veterans and reserve members of the military to active duty and to augment forces already involved in the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the White House press briefing made on 30 March 2020, the President and the health officials mentioned that the COVID-19 fatality predictions would be in hundreds of thousands in the weeks to follow.

Therefore, it can be inferred that bringing military veterans back to duty for the coronavirus response was, at least in part, due to the fatality predictions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
