Bay leaves reduce blood sugar levels, slow the growth of colorectal and breast cancer cells, but more research is needed to validate these results.Bay leaves have antibacterial properties. It decreases blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. A lab study has shown that it fights off H. Pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers and even cancer. People with type 2 diabetes consuming capsules of ground bay leaves could decrease blood sugar levels. Still, more research must identify if it has the same effect if consumed in smaller quantities.

A research article demonstrated that the consumption of bay leaves, two gd-1 for thirty days, reduces risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. It also lowers cholesterol and Triglycerides. An early laboratory cell research shows that it slows down the growth of breast cancer and colorectal cancer cells, but more study is required to understand how it helps cancer patients. A 2014 study showed that bay leaf and eight other traditional medicinal herbs reduced urease in a body. Urease is an enzyme that can cause gastric disorders, including kidney stones, when it is not balanced, but more study is required to understand how these herbs function.

According to a recent study, bay leaf extract effectively protects rats against seizures as the leaf extract has unique chemical components. Scientists are hoping to study this new research of the bay leaf extract on humans.
