Over 30 protesters first donated their blood and later penned down a letter in their blood to PM Narendra Modi on Dec 21.The Indian farmers have been protesting since Nov 26, 2020, against three bills that were passed in the parliament in Sep 2020. The farmers have touted these bills as ‘anti-farmer bills.’ These bills: the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, were passed amid protests from the opposition and farmers, who were worried that moving towards privatizing the agricultural sector would lead to exploitation.
According to The Hindu, a group of people first donated blood at two Ludhiana based blood banks set up at Delhi-Haryana’s Singhu border on Dec 21. Later, they wrote a letter in their blood, which was to be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Over 30 people donated blood at the bank in about six hours starting at 9 am, as per News18. Taranjeet Singh Nimana, a protester from Ludhiana, said that the letters would either be delivered to the PM by post or deliver in person.
