The Malayalam film Jallikattu is selected as India’s official entry at the Oscars.

The Film Federation of India chose the movie Jallikattu for this year's Oscar entry in the Best International Feature Film.

The Film Federation of India chose the movie Jallikattu for this year's Oscar entry in the Best International Feature Film.The committee chairperson Rahul Rawail said that the film was picked from 27 films that included Chhapaak, The Disciple, Shakuntala Devi, Chhalaang, Gulabo Sitabo, The Sky Is Pink, and Eeb Allay Ooo!. The film was critically acclaimed when it was released last year and won several awards at film festivals across the country. It is based on a short story by writer S Hareesh titled 'Maoist.' The movie is directed by Jose Pellissery and premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. It was also screened at the 24th Busan International Film.
