Among the Indian nobles in the Mughal Empire, most of them belonged to the Muslim community and were known as Shaikhzadas.Indian Muslims were the part of the nobility in the Mughal Empire along with Iranis, Afghanis and Persians. During the time 1658- 78, almost 65 Shaikhzadas were the part of the nobility, and later on, it had increased. Under the ruling of emperor Akbar (1575-1605), 34 people among the nobles were Indian Muslims and under Jahangir (1605-1612), almost 17 Indian Muslims had been considered as nobles. It mentioned that during the time of Babur and Humayun, among a total of 116 nobles, 31 were Indians that includes Afghans and Shaikhzadas. The Mughal rulers had a good relationship with the Rajputs in the then Indian subcontinent even though the members belonging to the Muslim community had increased representation in the nobility of the Mughal empire.
