The official date of the launch will be announced only after a nod from the government, which is yet to see the new version of the app and analyze it.
The new PUBG Mobile India is a tweaked version of PUBG Mobile that is otherwise available in several countries. These tweakings are essentially the changes that highlight that the game is aesthetically more Indian than ever and that it tries to quell all the concerns at large. These concerns are from the Indian government, Indian parents, and medical experts who have unanimously criticized PUBG Mobile and its influence on Indian players. PUBG Corporation is addressing all of them with PUBG Mobile India, according to an India Today report. The company is also erecting a new Indian subsidiary that will hire over 100 employees to look after the operations of PUBG Mobile India.
PUBG Mobile India will be allowed on both Google Play and Apple App Store as soon as it launches, so there will be no need for you to sideload the game using an APK or other means. The servers for this game will be available in compliance with the Indian government’s directives, which is why VPN connections will not be necessary.
PUBG Corporation has tied up with Microsoft to store user data on Azure Cloud. Azure Cloud data centers are located in India, which means that the data of PUBG Mobile India users are unlikely to leave the country borders. This move also fulfills the government’s data localization policy that requires companies to store data of Indian users locally. The previously available PUBG Mobile stored data on Tencent Cloud servers located in China.
According to a TOI report, PUBG Corporation will invest $100 million into the India subsidiary and other projects to ensure the esports, entertainment, and IT industries of India get a boost from the company.
However, how the investment will materialize is something that is not immediately clear, but according to the company, PUBG Corporation will be more focused on giving India’s gaming market a significant and necessary facelift, which might encompass a boost to local developers.
According to a new report by The Indian Express, the government remains unfazed on its decision, and ‘Unless they (PUBG Corporation) address the concerns, it will be difficult to grant any relaxation (to PUBG Mobile).’ The government is unlikely to change the decision before it gets to see the new version of the app and analyze its policies. As of now, officials have not seen the new app.
