A thirty-second video clipping shows poll rigging in the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal.

An old video is circulated with a false narrative that polls are rigged during the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.

An old video is circulated with a false narrative that polls are rigged during the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.A video clip showing a polling agent holding voters' hands and pressing the EVM (electronic voting machine) is viral on the internet, claiming that it recently happened in West Bengal during the assembly elections. West Bengal is voting for the assembly elections in eight phases in March and April 2021.

However, we found that Hindustan Times Political editor Vinod Sharma earlier posted the same video on May 15, 2019. News Central also carried the news saying that it could not ascertain the exact location and suggested that it might be from rural Bengal.

Thus it is clear an old video has been revived to show that the 2021 elections in West Bengal are rigged. The video shared widely on social media is in no way related to the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal.
