Telangana Police said that a fake image was forwarded on social media with false content and have arrested 3 people for spreading this fake news.Times of India and NDTV reported that on 16 March 2020, three persons were arrested by Telangana Police for spreading the fake picture of a patient lying on a hospital bed stating that the man died of coronavirus. According to Telangana Police, one among the accused edited the downloaded picture of a patient lying on a hospital bed and circulated that picture by claiming that a man from the district died of coronavirus in Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad. Police added that the accused were charged with the Epidemic Diseases Act of 1897 for spreading false information and rumours. Moreover, the Police have alerted that those who spread fake news and rumours on coronavirus pandemic would be jailed up to one year.
