It is one of the very few University-based research units in the world that investigates paranormal phenomena. The Division’s main purpose is the scientific investigation about the nature of mind and consciousness and relationships to physical matter.

The website mentions the DOPS lab known as The Ray Westphal Neuroimaging Laboratory was established in 2008. The researchers there study Psychophysiological studies of Altered States of Consciousness and Psi within the lab.
