Three MLAs have resigned from the TMC party in a single week ahead of the assembly elections in West Bengal.

Three MLAs have resigned from the TMC party in a single week ahead of the assembly elections in West Bengal.Former transport minister Suvendu Adhikari quit the party on Dec. 17 after giving up his cabinet portfolio in the state government and resigning as an MLA.

His resignation was followed by former chairperson of the Asansol Corporation and MLA from Pandabeswar, Jitendra Tiwari, who quit the party on the same day.

Another TMC Barrackpore MLA, Shilbhadra Dutta, also sent his resignation to party supremo Mamata Banerjee. He is allegedly in touch with the opposition BJP. All the resignations were tendered in a short span of time, and sources have said that the exodus of TMC party members to the BJP is expected to continue at multiple levels across the state.
