Joyce George, a former MP from Idukki, apologized for his derogatory comments against Rahul Gandhi at an election meeting in Idukki.On March 30, 2021, Joyce George, a CPI(M)-backed former MP from Idukki in Kerala, withdrew his aggressive remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and apologized for the same. Joyce George said that he withdraws the inappropriate remarks made while addressing an election rally in Irattayar on March 29, 2021. He also expressed his regret over his comments while speaking at a meeting in Kumaly, a town in Idukki.

Joyce was addressing a party meeting in Irattyar, where he spoke about Rahul Gandhi, claiming that Mr. Gandhi goes only to women's colleges and teaches young ladies to bend and stretch. Joyce also warned female students not to bend and stretch in front of Rahul Gandhi, who is not yet married.

The Congress, meanwhile, carried out protests across the state demanding George's apology over his statement. Joyce George is a former congress worker who later became a CPI(M)-backed candidate in Idukki. Incidentally, George apologized in the presence of CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Vrinda Karat at another Idukki campaign rally.
