Social media post of Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Uday Samant confirms that he has requested the UGC to promote the final year students without exams.Uday Samant, the state minister for higher and technical education announced that he had written a letter to the University Grants Commission(UGC) to cancel the final year exams for UG(Undergraduate education)/PG(Postgraduate education) and to grade the students based on the UGC guidelines. In the letter, it was pointed out that the conducting of exams for approximately eight to ten lakh of students by ensuring all safety would be a challenge for the students' mental and physical health.

Samant added that the state government would wait for a couple of days for the response from the commission, whereas a meeting would conduct with all education officials along with heads of state universities to discuss the plan of action.
