This claim cannot be verified yet as the police are currently investigating the allegation made by the 16-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. On August 17, 2020, a 16-year-old girl alleged that a Police Inspector of the Govind Nagar police station in Kanpur asked her to dance in return for filing an FIR against her landlord's nephew. The girl with her family lives in a rented house in the Dabauli West area of Govind Nagar. The girl's family had tried to complain about their landlord's nephew, accusing him of molesting the teenager and forcibly asking the family to vacate the house a few days earlier.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on July 17, issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh DGP over the harassment.

Govind Nagar Circle Officer Vikas Kumar Pandey said that there was an old dispute between the two parties about the property's possession, there was no substance in the charges and prima facie, and implied that the girl had made the video viral to add pressure on the police.

News media mostly report this story, and the NHRC's notice was based on it too. The investigation is currently underway.
