SP Charan, son of SP Balasubrahmanyam has refuted the viral rumor about the cost of his father's treatment.A viral message circulating on social media claimed that Chennai MGM Healthcare Hospital had charged ₹3 crores to treat legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam who died on Sept. 25. Balasubramaniam, popularly known as SPB, was admitted to MGM Healthcare on Aug. 5 for Covid-19 and had been on life support. The message claimed that the hospital authorities released the singer's body only after the family cleared the balance payment of ₹1.85 crores.

Later, in a five-minute video live on Facebook, SP Charan, the son of Balasubrahmanyam, dismissed the rumors, terming them disheartening and hurtful, and praised the hospital for the care provided to his father.
