Students have to pay enormously for education in India.

Students have to pay enormously for education in India. The rising cost of education in India has made it more difficult for the weaker sections of the society. As a result, only one in ten Indians opts for higher education. According to the NSO, the average expenditure for pursuing a college degree generally costs around ₹5,240 per student in rural areas, more than three times the rural average spends in urban areas. The medical degree can cost over ₹72,000 a year.

The engineering courses will cost around ₹63,280 per year, which excludes accommodation and other charges. As per the Care rating agency in the last decade, the expenses on general education from primary to post-graduate courses increased fourfold, and the cost of professional courses went up to nearly 52%.

Students also have to fork money for expenses for traveling and coaching. Although the government provides scholarships, only one in five students get the benefits.
