The Indian Medical Association has sent a defamation notice to spiritual leader Baba Ramdev.

IMA Uttarakhand has served a defamation notice to Baba Ramdev for his derogatory comments on allopathy and allopathic doctors.

IMA Uttarakhand has served a defamation notice to Baba Ramdev for his derogatory comments on allopathy and allopathic doctors. The Indian Medical Association(IMA) has issued a six-page notice to Indian spiritual leader Baba Ramdev for questioning the efficacy of allopathic medicines. It alleged that his comments were criminal in nature and damaging to the reputation of allopathy and around 2,000 practitioners.

Ramdev was seen in a 140-second video saying that Allopathy is a stupid science and all its medicines in treating COVID-19 have failed. However, Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust denied allegations stating that he was only reading out a Whatsapp forward.

The notice has demanded a written apology from Baba Ramdev and asked him to make a video contradicting all his claims against allopathy. Further said that he should withdraw the advertisement of “Coronil kit” from all the platforms which the yoga guru has endorsed as an effective medicine against COVID-19.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also called his statement inappropriate and asked him to apologize to the association. Soon after, Ramdev issued an apology stating that they do not oppose modern medical science and allopathy.
