West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh criticized women's participation in protests

In 2016, Dilip Ghosh called a section of women students, who were protesting, of Jadavpur University “shameless” and asked why they were protesting.

In 2016, Dilip Ghosh called a section of women students, who were protesting, of Jadavpur University “shameless” and asked why they were protesting. In 2016, BJP president of Bengal Dilip Ghosh, referring to the protests in Jadavpur University, called women students in the university “below standard”, “shameless” and “constantly seeking company of male students”.

His comments appeared after Akil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) workers were booked for allegedly molesting students during a commotion over a film’s screening. Ghosh argued that the allegations were baseless since the students had “intentionally” thrown themselves at the accused. “Those who fear so much for their modesty, why did they go there,” asked Ghosh.

Congress and CPI-M party members and activists slammed his comments. State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had asked that BJP and RSS to apologize to India’s womenfolk for such remarks from their leaders.
