The statement published by WHO Newsroom regarding the outbreak of novel coronavirus confirm the declaration of PHEIC on 30 January 2020.The Director-General of World Health Organization had conveyed a second meeting of the Emergency Committee under the International Health Regulations regarding the outbreak of novel coronavirus 2019 and the committee had agreed that the outbreak met the criteria for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). On 30 January 2020, based on the advice of the committee, the Director-General of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had declared the global outbreak of novel coronavirus as PHEIC.
